City Of Akron And Akron Children's Hospital Jump Into A Healthy Summer

Akron, Ohio, June 1, 2021 — For the second year, the City of Akron and Akron Children’s Hospital are collaborating to give Akron families a fun jump-start to summer. Akron Children’s Hospital is the exclusive sponsor of the “Jump into a Healthy Summer” program.

The program kicks off today, with activity bags being provided to children ages 5-12 who live in the City of Akron, with a goal of helping to keep them active through the summer months. Items in the bags will include classic summer items such as frisbees, jump ropes, wiffle balls, cones, chalk and other surprises. The items can be used to play traditional summer games like hopscotch, frisbee, tag and relay races, or families can tap into some creative thinking and invent new games and activities with their own rules.

In addition to the activity bags, each Wednesday in July, Lock 3 will also feature a video on their social media channels (Facebook and Twitter) promoting healthy living and safe summer fun.

Prizes will be offered to participants who email photos of themselves and their families having fun with the activity bags to lock3@akronohio.gov.
