Ohio State Highway Patrol cracking down on speedy drivers along SR 11 (wfmj.com) — Extra state troopers will be watching for speeders where State Route 11 meets Route 224 and I-80 near Austintown Township throughout October, after crashes on the highway rose between 2024 and 2025. Drivers using that stretch should expect heavier patrols, new warning signs, and stricter enforcement, especially where speeds have topped 100 miles per hour.
3. Doctors urge men over 50 to get screened for prostate cancer (wkbn.com) — Men in Austintown and nearby communities over 50 are being urged by a local NEO Urology physician to prioritize prostate cancer screening, especially simple PSA blood tests. He explains that the disease is common, often silent, and highly treatable when caught early, with many patients living for years even after advanced diagnoses.
4. Organizer of Cornersburg Beautification Initiative shares hopes for future (mahoningmatters.com) — Austintown residents are being invited to help spruce up Cornersburg, the busy neighborhood where Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, and Youngstown meet. 5. 20 area teams in playoff mix in new computer rankings (wkbn.com) — Austintown Fitch is sitting fourth in Division I, Region 1 of the latest OHSAA football computer ratings, putting the Falcons in strong position for a playoff berth and potential first-round bye. They're one of 20 area teams currently in line for postseason spots across multiple divisions and regions statewide.
