The students at Avon Heritage Elementary donated their money to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

AVON, OH — More than $16,000 was raised by Avon Heritage Elementary School for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The school has raised $79,000 for the organization over the past 14 fundraising campaigns, the district said.
In 2018, Avon Heritage was recognized as the No. 1 fundraising school in the Northern Ohio region by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Northern Ohio region stretches from Toledo to Youngstown and includes more than 500 schools, all of which participated in the Pennies for Patients campaign.
In total, the students at Avon Heritage raised $16,289.92 during this year's campaign. That's up from $13,081.01 last year.

Consider this too, Avon Heritage Elementary only houses grades 3-5. That's a lot of pennies raised by students and staff.
This week, representatives from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society came to the school and awarded Avon Heritage a banner. Student Council members organized the Pennies for Patients campaign for the school, the district said in a press release.
