2 Men Cited For Smoking Weed At Avon Lake Gas Station

The men had no idea they were parked next to an Avon Lake detective.

AVON LAKE, OH — Two men were smoking weed in the wrong place at the wrong time, on May 17. A detective drove to a gas station near Belle and Woodstock avenues. When he parked his car, he could smell burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle next to him, according to police reports.

The detective cited two men for possession of marijuana. He also cited one of the men for driving with a suspended license.

Found Property, May 13 — An older white iPhone was found in an Amvets donation box. The phone was locked and inaccessible. Due to the conditions surrounding the phone, it was turned over to police who are placing it in evidence for safe keeping.

Warrant Service, May 15 — An Avon Lake Municipal Court employee called police to report that a person appearing in court was wanted on a warrant in Westlake. Police took the man into custody and turned him over to Westlake Police.

Traffic Complaint, May 15 — Officers were sent to the area of Lake Road and Brunswick Drive for reports of a motorcycle that was driving at a reckless speed. Police caught up to the bike and saw the driver make a quick left turn onto Curtis Drive from Lake, without using a turn signal. The driver was stopped and cited for not using his turn signal.

Telecommunication Harassment, May 15 — A resident came to Avon Lake Police Department to report that she has been getting unwanted text messages from her ex-husband's new wife regarding child visitation. Police requested the new wife cease all contact.

Theft, May 15 — Prescription medication is missing from a Beck Road resident's home.

Fraud, May 16 — Someone attempted to use an Angela Lane resident's personal information to open up a cell phone account.

Drug Investigation, May 17 — A homeowner found suspicious items left in his house after he evicted a tenant. The items were turned over to police, though police reports did not indicate what the items were.

Criminal Damaging, May 17 — Someone vandalized a Burton Street resident's car. There was heavy damage to the front end of the vehicle and writing on the windshield, police reports indicated. The vehicle had been parked in the resident's driveway overnight.

Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, May 18 — Police were called to an Inwood Boulevard address for reports of a car accident. When they arrived, they found that a 56-year-old woman had hit a parked car. Officers determined the woman was intoxicated and arrested her.
