2 Overdoses In Avon Lake, 1 Fatal: Police

Police said there were two overdoses this month in Avon Lake. One of the overdoses was fatal.

AVON LAKE, OH — There were two overdoses in Avon Lake this month, one of them fatal. A 42-year-old man was declared dead after being found at his home on Canter Court last week. A 28-year-old Avon Lake man may have also overdosed this month, according to police records.

On March 7, police were called to a house on Canter Court for reports of an overdose. Officers found a 42-year-old man in the house. He was unresponsive.

Police gave the man CPR and the anti-overdose drug Narcan, but the man could not be revived. The Lorain County Coroner declared the man dead on the scene, according to police records.

That same day, March 7, officers were called to Berkshire Road for a reported drug overdose. Police found the 28-year-old in the house and had him taken to the Avon Cleveland Clinic for treatment.

Police said they are accusing the 28-year-old of possession of drug abuse instruments. The 28-year-old has made two appearances in Avon Lake Municipal Court and entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

The case will not move to pre-trial until mid-May, court records show.
