2 Teenagers Drive Intoxicated, Hit Tree After Driving Off Road: Avon Lake Police

The driver and passenger were unhurt, but were both charged with underage consumption of alcohol.

AVON LAKE, OH - Two teenagers, 18 and 19, crashed their Chevy Cruze into a tree. When police arrived at the scene they determined the two had been drinking underage and then driving while intoxicated. Neither of the two teenagers were hurt.

Traffic Complaint, Dec. 23 - Police spotted a man driving a car with temporary license plates on Walker Road. After a quick LEADS inquiry, it was determined that the owner of the car had an expired license. The man was also cited for driving without a seat belt on.

Criminal Damaging, Dec. 28 - A woman reported that someone or something damaged property in her sun room at her Westwind Drive condominium.

Burglary, Dec. 28 - A resident of the Village on the Green reported that her apartment was entered by an unknown suspect. Several items were taken from the residence, including jewelry and gift cards.

Possession of Controlled Substance, Dec. 29 - A resident at the Learwood Square Shopping Plaza, 375 Lear Rd., flagged down a police officer. The resident said there was a suspicious vehicle loitering in the parking lot of Giant Eagle and the car may have been involved in damaging property at his residence. Officer spoke with the people inside the car and found a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Four adult males and one juvenile male were cited for possession of marijuana.

Traffic Complaint, Dec. 29 - Officers on patrol spotted a Chevy Cruze going west on Walker Road. The driver matched the description of a woman with a suspended license that had been seen driving near Avon Lake Municipal Court. Officers stopped the woman and cited her for driving under suspension.

Disturbance, Dec. 29 - Three skaters were cited for skating past curfew.

OVI, Dec. 30 - Callers reported that a car had driven off the road and into a pine tree near Lear Road and Krebs Road. Two adult teenagers were in the vehicle, but they were not hurt. After investigating the crash, officers arrested both males. The driver was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence alcohol, underage consumption of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain reasonable control, and failure to obey traffic control devices. The passenger was charged with underage consumption of alcohol.

Theft, Dec. 30 - The general manager of the McDonalds at 32799 Walker Road reported that one of his employees was caught on camera going through coworkers' purses and stealing money. The male suspect admitted to stealing the money and will be charged with Theft without Consent.
