$24 Million In Scholarships To Go To Avon Lake Class Of 2018
More than 280 students graduated from the high school on Saturday.

AVON LAKE, OH — The Avon Lake Class of 2018 graduated on Saturday night. More than 280 seniors walked through Avon Lake Memorial Stadium and got a diploma. The students heading to college are projected to get more than $24 million in scholarships, according to the school district.
The class valedictorian is Marisa Barilla. She plans to attend The Ohio State University, where she will major in chemistry and chemical engineering. The class salutatorian is Sarah Durisek, who will also be attending The Ohio State University. Durisek will major in health sciences.
Of the 281 graduating seniors, about 70 percent will be attending four-year colleges or universities in the fall. Another 15 percent will go to two-year schools.

The school district estimates that $24,167,068.16 has been awarded to Avon Lake seniors this year in scholarship money.
About six percent of the Class of 2018 will join the military.
