2nd Avon Lake Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Mayor Greg Zilka said the officer is at home and in quarantine.

AVON LAKE, OH — A second Avon Lake police officer has tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19, the city announced this week. The officer has returned home and is self-quarantining, Mayor Greg Zilka announced.

"It is important to note that the officer is not an Avon Lake resident and will not change our count of the number of people who have tested positive. Our count remains at seven. He will be counted in the municipality in which he resides," Zilka said.

The infected policeman is a patrol officer, Zilka said. Avon Lake's other infected officer worked a desk job, the mayor said.
