3 Overdoses In Avon In 36 Hours, 1 Dead, Police Say

Police administered Narcan, the anti-overdose drug, to two people found overdosing. The third person was dead when officers arrived.

AVON, OH — Three people overdosed in Avon in 36 hours, police said. One of the overdosing people died and police have launched an investigation into their death.

The overdoses happened between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. It's not yet clear if the incidents were connected, police told Patch. Two of the overdosing people were revived using Narcan, the anti-overdose drug. The third person was dead when officers arrived.

After finding the third overdose victim, Avon detectives began working with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on a joint investigation. Lieutenant Dan Fischbach of Avon Police said a suspect has been identified, but the name of that suspect has not been released. No arrests have yet been made in this case.

On Tuesday, police got a search warrant for a home on E. 33rd Street in Lorain.

Police said they found suspected narcotics and narcotics instruments inside the house. Criminal charges will be filed against the suspect, police said, pending the results of a lab test on the seized items.

Avon Police said they will not release additional information on the investigation because it is ongoing.
