380 Homes Without Power In Avon Lake, Flash Flood Warning Issued

A flash flooding warning is now in effect for Lorain County as thunderstorms roll through the region.

AVON LAKE, OH - More than 380 homes are without power in Avon Lake as storms roll through the region.

Crews are on the scene and power should be restored by 8 p.m., according to FirstEnergy. With powerful winds and rain hammering much of Northeast Ohio, including Lorain County, it's possible additional outages could occur throughout the night.

A flash flood warning was issued for parts of Lorain and all of Cuyahoga counties on Tuesday evening by the National Weather Service. "Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. This warning extends the Flash Food warning for all of Cuyahoga County. Thunderstorms with torrential rains of .90 inch in only 15 minutes has been reported in Fairview Park. The torrential rain will continue to move across Cuyahoga which is primed for flooding," the agency said.

Avon is among the areas likely to be impacted by the flooding.

The flash flood warning is in effect until 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday. A severe thunderstorm warning will be in effect until at least 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
