$4.7 Million In State Funding Going To Lorain Community College

The money will be used for equipment upgrades, including improved security and internet connectivity.

ELYRIA, OH β€” Lorain County Community College will receive nearly $4.7 million in state funds to pay for new equipment and upgrades. The college is expected to upgrade its internet network security, and provide better internet connectivity.

State Rep. Joe Miller, a Democrat from Amherst, announced the funding. β€œToday’s decision is an important step towards ensuring Lorain County Community College is properly equipped to offer the best environment in which to work and learn,” said Miller. β€œA reliable, responsive network is essential for building a world-class educational facility.”

The state is specifically funding the outfitting of instructional labs for Microelectronic Manufacturing (MEMS) and Digital Manufacturing Line (DML) with new equipment. Both programs are focused on in-demand occupations.

The $4.7 million going to Lorain County Community College was originally approved last year, as part of the state's capital budget. The money was given final approval this month by the Ohio Controlling Board.
