Avon Lake is offering a variety of things to do this week. From sports to city hall, here's a way to keep in touch with your community.
- Monday is Presidents Day. All Avon Lake schools are closed. Federal, state and county offices are closed. is open for business.
- There is no council meeting Monday night, however the city’s Environmental Committee will meet in the council committee room at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 to discuss Asian carp; deer management and melanoma prevention.
- On Tuesday, senior citizens are welcome to drop in to the Old Firehouse Community Center at 100 Avon Belden Rd. for complimentary coffee and to enjoy a discussion on current events. The talk starts at 10 a.m.
- Shoremen fever continues! The 18-0 boys basketball team will take on Brecksville Feb. 25 at in postseason play. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. Don your maroon and gold and come out and cheer the undefeated Shoremen.
- Saturday’s fundraiser will help officer seriously injured in Avon Lake. Five area police and fire departments, including the Avon Lake Police Department are holding a to benefit Avon police officer Pete Soto from 5 to 10 p.m. Feb. 26 at the .
