67 UFO Sightings In Ohio In 2017: Report
A Columbus man reported being abducted and "zapped" into unconsciousness. Others saw strange objects dancing through the night sky.

Since the beginning of the year, Ohioans have spotted a lot of UFOs. In fact, Buckeye Staters have had approximately 67 encounters with unidentified lights, flying objects, and creatures from another planet since Jan. 1, 2017.
Before assuming all of the UFO spottings took place in cornfields or the tiny villages dotted along the highway, many of the sightings were in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati or in well-populated suburbs. It appears aliens are happy visiting every corner of the state.
In fact, one of the more graphically detailed accounts of an encounter comes from a man in Columbus who claims he was abducted and repeatedly probed by an alien creature. On July 8, the man writes, he fell asleep on his couch in his home and woke up inside a tanning-bed like alien enclosure before an alien "zapped" him into unconsciousness. When he came to, he was back on his couch.

He recalls seeing the alien creature, saying it was about 3' tall, with a thin frame and big, dark eyes. The creature had an oversized, awkward head. The alien resembled the common caricature of a creature from another planet.
But wait, take this account with a grain of salt. The man does note he suffers from sleep paralysis which can often lead to vivid, frightening hallucinations. He referred to his encounter as a "possible abduction."

Not all of the detailed encounters induce the same skepticism. Several Ohioans recall stargazing and seeing a suddenly dancing orb of light that disappears into the night, or spotting a two-dimensional oval shaped object flying through the sky on July 4th.
UFO sightings have been common through the decades after the the first well-known report in 1947 of a UFO over Mount Rainier in Washington, that one reported by a businessman piloting a small plane who claimed to see nine high-speed, crescent-shaped objects zooming along at several thousand miles per hour “like saucers skipping on water.”
Though the objects Kenneth Arnold claimed to see weren’t saucer-shaped at all, his analogy led the popularization of the term “flying saucers.” And since then, Americans have been more or less obsessed with the idea that alien life is among us. Ohio is certainly no exception.

Chardon — A 64-year-old librarian, and her husband, saw three lights over rural Chardon on Jan. 28. The woman was on the second floor of her home, sitting on a couch and looking out the window, when she saw a bright light sitting directly above the tree line of her front yard. What follows is her account of what she saw.
The light did not waiver and sat, about the size of a beach ball in one spot. At this time it was 8:29 p.m and snow was densely falling outside. The light was bright enough to be clearly seen, even in the adverse weather. I opened the window to listen for sounds, such as a helicopter or airplane but none were present. It felt as though the light was watching me and I was watching it. I shut my blinds and continued to watch the light through them. Suddenly two more beach ball sized lights appeared. One was positioned about 75 feet away from the first light, but hung at the same level. The second was about 100 feet over to the right, and hung lower than the other two. I called down to my husband, and joined him at the window on the first floor of our home. We watched the lights together for about another minute, and then all three started moving toward the left, northbound up the street and out of sight.
The woman goes on to say she has lived in her home since 1987 and never once encountered a phenomenon like the one described.
Brook Park — On Feb. 23, a driver on I-71 saw a flash in the sky, heading west. The driver looked desperately for the object, but was unable to spot it again. The flash lasted approximately three seconds, according to the report.
Streetsboro — A Streetsboro resident saw an oval shaped flying object pass overhead on June 19. The object is described as silver, with a dark bottom. The object flew over a hill, beyond the trees. The resident said they saw it come down in a diagonal pattern, before it slipped behind a tree. The object made no sound and moved faster than a blimp.
Broadview Heights — On July 4th, a husband and wife were watching fireworks light up the night sky. While siting outside, the wife spotted a dark, two-dimensional oval object gliding from right to left. There were no fireworks in the sky at the time, and no sound of fireworks. The object had no lights and emitted no sound. It did not have edges, the woman says, like a bird or aircraft.
"It simply glided above the tree line until out of our site," the account reads. "My husband is former Air Force who worked on fighter jets and is very knowledgeable of aircraft and he has no idea of what we saw."
