9 Avon Lake Residents Have Died From Coronavirus: Update
Avon Lake Mayor Greg Zilka said new cases of COVID-19 appear to be slowing locally.
AVON LAKE, OH — Since the start of the outbreak, at least nine Avon Lake residents have died from complications related to the new coronavirus, Mayor Greg Zilka announced. A 69-year-old woman died from COVID-19 on Friday, Zilka said.
Deaths related to COVID-19 tend to lag behind spikes in cases. Zilka said the city is actually seeing a decline in new cases.
"We had recorded five positive cases in the past 10 days. In the previous 10 days we had 20 positive tests. Quite an improvement," Zilka said in a message to the community on Friday.
