9 Dangerous Dogs In Avon Lake
The city has a map of dogs that have been classified as nuisances, dangerous or even vicious.

AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake City Council and Police Chief Duane Streator addressed the loose dog incident on Sept. 7 which saw two canines chasing children on Vanda Ave. Streator said the dogs are no longer in the city, but there are nine "dangerous" dogs in Avon Lake.
The two dogs on Vanda are owned by different people. Both individuals were found guilty of dog-at large. The city then used an ordinance to designate the dogs as "dangerous animals."
If the owners of the dogs were to bring the dogs back into Avon Lake, they would have to inform the city, in writing. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Avon-Avon Lake newsletter. As news breaks and the story develops, you will be the first to receive updates from Patch.)

Avon Lake passed its law on Nuisance, Dangerous and Vicious dogs approximately two years ago, Avon Lake Safety Committee Chair David Kos said at the Sept. 18 City Council meeting. At that time, there were no designations in Lorain County for dangerous dogs.
"We take these situations very seriously," Kos said at the meeting.

- Dangerous Dog: a dog that, without provocation, has caused injury to a person or has seriously injured or killed a dog.
- Vicious Dog: a dog that, without provocation, has killed or seriously injured a person.
