Albert P. Kimmel, 86, of Avon Lake, who died Aug. 1, retired as a pipefitter for U.S. Steel Corp., served with the Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a Democratic precinct committeeman for several years.
He belonged to Knights of Columbus Fr. Ragan Council 3269 of Avon/Avon Lake and VFW Post 451 and Croatian Club, both in Lorain.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (nee Malinowski); children, Meg Klaameyer, Annette Harris, Tony and Stephen; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. His son, Patrick J., is deceased.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at , 32929 Lake Road.
