All Of May's Loose Dog Complaints In Avon Lake

More reports could still come in, but there have been five loose dog complaints so far this month. Most of the dogs attacked other pets.

AVON LAKE, OH — There were numerous reports of loose dogs this month in Avon Lake. Four of the canines got loose and attacked other dogs, and occasionally their owners. One of the animals led police on a brief chase before a resident tracked the pet down.

Animal Complaint, May 4 — Police were called to Redwood Boulevard for reports of a loose dog. Officers arrived and saw a pit bull running through yards. The pit bull was bitten by another dog on the street, when it entered its backyard. The dog ran away and police gave chase. Sadly the officers weren't able to pin the dog down. But the pit bull was later found safe on Inwood by a resident there.

Animal Complaint, May 16 — A Moorewood Avenue resident told police that a dog got loose and attacked her own dog at 8:50 p.m. The woman's dog was mostly uninjured, but did suffer some minor scratches. The woman hurt her thumb trying to separate the two animals. Police record indicate the woman suffered some minor puncture wounds, but declined medical attention.

Animal Complaint, May 17 — While walking her dog in the area of Walker Road, two dogs ran out of a backyard and started nipping at a woman and her pet. There were no injuries, police said.

Animal Complaint, May 22 — A dog was hit by a white SUV at the corner of Lear Road and Gedeohn Avenue. The vehicle left the area. There were no other descriptions of the SUV. The dog was taken to Avon Lake Animal Clinic and, luckily, appears to have suffered no serious injuries.

Animal Complaint, May 23 —A Dorchester Drive resident told police her dog jumped its fence and bit another dog. The owner of the other animal exchanged information with the resident.
