Today's riddle: Where do math teachers go on vacation? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. K1 Speed Cleveland brings indoor karting experience to Avon (morningjournal.com) — A major new indoor karting and arcade center has opened at 1500 Nagel Road in Avon, giving residents a year-round spot to race electric go-karts, play games, and grab food. With adjustable kart speeds, strict safety checks, and options for parties and competitive leagues, the venue aims to serve everyone from first-time drivers to serious racers.
2. Wayne H. Schmiermund (chroniclet.com) — Avon is mourning longtime resident Wayne H. Schmiermund, a Navy veteran, craftsman, and devoted church member who passed away at age 89. His family will host a Celebration of Life Gathering on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 3–5 p.m. at Avon Isle on Detroit Road, and they invite memorial contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
3. Avon vs. Upper Arlington football: Mistakes hurt Eagles in 43-22 loss (morningjournal.com) — Avon football fans saw the Eagles fall 43-22 at unbeaten Upper Arlington on Friday, undone by turnovers including two late interception returns for touchdowns. Despite the loss and a 1-2 start, coach Mike Elder says the tough early schedule is intentional and believes all of the team's goals, from a conference title to a state run, remain within reach.
4. North Ridgeville voters could see ballot issue on HUD urban designation (news5cleveland.com subscription) — A push in North Ridgeville to put HUD's urban county designation on the ballot could indirectly affect Avon, which has already opted into the same funding program alongside several Lorain County neighbors. The designation steers federal Community Development Block Grant money toward infrastructure, housing, and services for low- and moderate-income residents, and local organizers want voters to decide whether North Ridgeville stays in.
