Another Baby Eagle Born In Avon Lake

Another eaglet hatched this week. There are now three baby eagles in Avon Lake.

AVON LAKE, OH — A third eaglet was born in Avon Lake on Thursday afternoon. The eaglets can be seen on a 24-7 video stream set up by the Avon Lake Schools.

Outside Redwood Elementary there is a bald eagle nest — home to Stars and Stripes (the names bestowed on two adult bald eagles by the students). Over the past few years, the adult bald eagles have laid and hatched several eggs.

The first egg of 2019 was laid on Feb. 28. Two additional eggs followed, on March 3 and March 6. The first eaglet to hatch came out of its shell on April 8 at 6:22 a.m. The final egg hatched on Thursday at 1 p.m.

To help would-be eagle watchers, the school district has set up two live video streams from above the nest. One of the streams offers a 360 degree view around the nest. That footage is below.
