Another Car Set On Fire In Avon Lake

Police say an arsonist hit two cars and a mailbox on March 29. They say a third vehicle fire on March 30 was likely set by the same person.

AVON LAKE, OH - Police say they are searching for a suspected arsonist who has now set three vehicles and a mailbox on fire. Two of the car fires occurred on March 29. According to police record, a third fire was set on March 30 and the blaze consumed a vehicle on Greenbriar Drive. Read on for more information on that incident and others from the past two weeks.

Traffic Complaint, March 29 - A driver blew past a school bus with its flashing red lights and stop sign on. The driver of the school bus provided video of the incident and was able to zoom in on the driver. The driver will be cited for Failure to Stop when police reach her.

Criminal Mischief, March 29 - Someone cut a window screen on a house on Jaycox Road.

Theft, March 29 - A resident of Village on the Green reported that he paid cash for his rent but the cash is now missing.

Arson, March 30 - Police and fire units were called to a car fire on Greenbriar Drive. Police say this incident was related to other car fires in the area recently.

Fraud, March 31 - The IRS contacted an Avon Lake woman and informed her that a tax return had been filed in her name. The woman was told to report the matter to the police so that there is a record of the incident.

Traffic Complaint, April 1 - Police stopped a vehicle travelling with a loose hood on Lear Road. The driver was cited for Driving Under Suspension and Unsafe Vehicle. A valid driver was called to the scene and took possession of the vehicle.

Trespass, April 2 - An unknown man was loitering in a resident's garage, so the resident called police. The man was charged with Underage Consumption and Criminal Trespassing. He was released on a personal bond.
