Another Loose Dog Incident In Avon Lake
Luckily, the canine didn't attack a person. Instead the animal attacked a dog as it was being walked by its owner.

AVON LAKE, OH — Another loose dog, another animal attack, another complaint in Avon Lake. The city has been garnering headlines over the past two months for a series of dog attacks on both people and other animals. Patch reported that there are at least nine dangerous dogs registered in the city.
The most recent incident took place Sept. 30. A Monaco Dr. resident was walking her dog near Birchwood Lane when two canines ran out of their home and attacked her pet.
The woman reported the incident to police shortly after it occurred. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Avon-Avon Lake newsletter. As news breaks and the story develops, you will be the first to receive updates from Patch.)

Avon Lake passed its law on Nuisance, Dangerous and Vicious dogs approximately two years ago, Avon Lake Safety Committee Chair David Kos said at the Sept. 18 City Council meeting. At that time, there were no designations in Lorain County for dangerous dogs.
There are now nine dogs in the city have received dangerous dog designations. All canines that have received that designation can be seen here.

The city recently received a lot of attention for dog attacks because of a Sept. 7 incident that saw two dogs on Vanda Ave. chase children. No one was injured during the incident.
Those animals have since been removed from the city.
That incident followed another from a couple of weeks earlier. While walking on the paths near Weiss Field in late August, an Avon Lake woman was attacked by a loose dog. The animal ran out of the bushes and jumped on the woman. The woman tried to push the dog away, but the animal bit her on the arm and scratched her leg before fleeing. The woman did not see anyone else in the park and could not locate the dog owner.
