Anti-Overdose Drug Needed To Save Avon Lake Woman's Life
Police had to administer Narcan — an anti-overdose drug — to a 28-year-old woman to keep her alive.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police had to administer an anti-overdose drug to a 28-year-old woman to keep her alive on April 13. The woman is believed to have overdosed on heroin, according to police records.
Police were called to a home on Redwood Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. on April 13. Callers reported a possible overdose.
When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old woman in the house. She was unconscious but breathing. EMS personnel gave the woman Narcan — an anti-overdose drug — to help revive her. Within moments of getting the Narcan, the woman woke up and became coherent.

Emergency services took the woman to the Avon Cleveland Clinic for treatment and observation. The case is still under investigation, according to police.
On average, nearly 115 Americans are dying every day from opioid overdoses. Many people battling addiction say their first drug was a prescription opioid. Ohio has consistently had more opioid related overdose deaths than the average state.
