Anti-Poverty Group To Open New Offices In Avon Lake
The Community Resource Services (CRS) organization works to diminish poverty in both Avon and Avon Lake.

AVON LAKE, OH — The anti-poverty organization Community Resource Services (CRS) will open its new offices in Avon Lake on September 9. The new building will afford more privacy to visitors and more space for operations.
The CRS building will still be located in the Beach Park shopping center, but it will move from the south end of the plaza to the north end. CRS Executive Director Susan Poole said the change will offer many benefits for her organization.
“For instance,” said Poole, “whenever we had a large food drive come in, we had to scramble to sort and shelve everything to get it out of the way of our day-to-day operation.”

The new offices will have nearly double the square footage of the previous CRS space. The building has a lobby, separate from the office area, a larger pantry, and garage door access in the rear.
“We’re really looking forward to the holidays in our new space,” said Poole. “The upcoming months are always the busiest, with a significant increase in donations. It’s during those months that we always wished for a bigger place, and now we have one!”

For their part, city officials have said they're excited for this development. “The area that has been—and will continue to be—the home of CRS has great historical significance for Avon Lake,” said Ted Esborn, the city’s economic development director. “Having CRS, an organization that is so important to Avon and Avon Lake, renewing its presence in that area does a great deal to help Avon Lake realize its goal of bringing vibrancy back to the west end of the city.”
Before the ribbon cutting on September 9, Beach Park Station will celebrate the historical dedication of the rail car in the plaza. That event will start at 4:15 p.m. Patch will have more information on that dedication soon.
