Avon, Avon Lake Coronavirus Updates: New Cases, New Death

Young residents in Avon and Avon Lake continue to drive new cases of COVID-19.

AVON, OH — The cities of Avon and Avon Lake released COVID-19 updates this week.

In Avon, officials confirmed there were 12 new COVID-19 cases discovered among residents last week. Since the beginning of the outbreak, there have been 115 total COVID-19 cases confirmed in Avon.

City officials said the new cases were not linked to a single outbreak, but were isolated incidents. The new cases were mostly among younger residents.

In Avon Lake, 19 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among residents. Most of the new cases were among residents between the ages of 18 and 40. Since the start of the outbreak, there have been 168 confirmed COVID-19 cases among Avon Lake residents.

"We regret to inform you that a COVID-19 patient has died. She was 93 years old. The total number of persons who have died from COVID-19 related illness is now at 14 for our city," Mayor Greg Zilka said.
