Avon, Avon Lake Schools Close Due To Weather
Both districts announced they would be closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to the extreme cold.

AVON, OH β The Avon Schools and the Avon Lake Schools will both be closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to extreme cold.
The two neighboring school districts announced their closures on Monday afternoon. Avon Lake also cancelled all school-related activities on Wednesday and Thursday. Avon has cancelled Wednesday extracurricular activities, but Thursday activities are still scheduled to go on.
Wind chill temperatures are expected to plunge to -35 degrees or lower on Wednesday and Thursday, making for a dangerous environment. The National Weather Service described exposure to those temperatures as potentially "life-threatening."

"Wednesday may be the first time since January 1994 that highs remain below zero in many locations. Low temperatures Wednesday and Thursday morning will be the lowest the region has felt since February 2015 and could break daily records by several degrees," the National Weather Service said.

Avon Schools will be closed Wednesday, January 30th & Thursday, January 31st due to extreme conditions. All after school/evening activities are cancelled for Wednesday 1/30. We have not yet made a decision on after school/evening activities for Thursday 1/31. Be safe!!
