Avon City Official Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Two city meetings were postponed after a city administrator tested positive for COVID-19.

AVON, OH — A member of the Avon city administration tested positive for COVID-19 this week, the city announced.

"The employee is following all the CDC recommended precautions as to personal quarantining and testing. At this time all necessary safety measures have been taken to assure the wellbeing of Avon City employees and residents," the city of Avon said in a press release.

After the positive test was confirmed, the city postponed two scheduled meetings — a city council work session and the Planning Commission. The city council work session has been rescheduled for Oct. 26. The Planning Commission meeting has not yet been rescheduled.

On Friday, there will be a pop-up COVID-19 testing site held at Crusher Stadium. Free tests will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants do not need a doctor's order to receive a test.

The pop-up testing site is being coordinated by Gov. Mike DeWine's office, city officials said.
