Avon First-Grader Wins T-Shirt Design Challenge

The student's artwork will be featured on the Kids Fun Run T-shirts, part of the Avon Eagle Run.

AVON, OH — Cullen Canning has been named the winner of the Kids T-Shirt Design Challenge for the Avon Eagle Run. Canning is a first-grader at Avon East Elementary School.

Canning's design will be featured on the Kids Fun Run T-shirts. Canning's design was selected from submissions garnered from throughout the school district.

Avon Superintendent Mike Laub presented Canning, 7, with the final design, a certificate, and a goodie bag.

The runner-up winners in the contest were Phoebe Farley, another Avon East first-grader, and Shaye Gorski, an Avon Heritage fourth-grader. Both Farley and Gorski also received a certificate and a goodie bag.

The Avon Eagle Run will be held May 25. This is the 19th straight year the event has been held. This year's run is presented by Mercy Health and will benefit Avon School Educational Endowment Fund, French Creek YMCA and other local charities.
