Down by as many as ten points in the second half, the Eagles kept fighting, eventually closing within one of Padua, 31-30, with 17 seconds remaining in the game.
Both Avon, the third seed and Padua, the seventh seed, appeared to have trouble locating a rhythm the entire game as turnovers by each team kept the game in balance until the final seconds.

Sophomore Brianna Smith led Avon with 11 points, Junior Natalie Wilden added 8, Senior Mackenzie Brua contributed 5, Junior Breana Cain had 4 and Michelle Janollari finished with 2 points to round out the scoring.
