AVON, OH - Science is trendy now. Neil deGrasse Tyson is a Twitter celebrity and TV show host. Now Avon Heritage Elementary School is giving you an outlet for all your hip science stylings. The Avon Heritage Elementary School's annual Science Night will be held March 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

South and North campuses of Heritage Elementary, 35575 Detroit Rd., will have exhibits. More than 35 presenters will be at the event, which is the grand finale of the schools' Science Week.

Throughout the event on March 9, attendees will be able to tour exhibits set up throughout the schools. Parents and students alike will get a first-hand trip through the wonders of science.

The event is co-coordinated by teacher Stephanie Reichert. Science Night is made possible by grants from the Avon Schools Educational Endowment Fund and is sponsored by the Avon Heritage Boosters.

"The goal of Science Night is to create a unifying, community event that generates enthusiasm for all areas of science and their connection to applicable careers in the world," said Amy Rottman, fifth-grade science teacher, in an emailed statement. "We like to include a variety of presenters to spark interest in every student. Exposure to different science areas is also a key factor. Many students do not realize how many different areas of science play out in the real world, or how many jobs/careers are affected by science. We especially love that Science Night emphasizes the areas of physical and earth science; areas that many students have not been overly exposed to yet in school. It really helps make connections when we cover these topics in our science classes. We are always looking for new exhibits, so if anyone in the community is interested in participating, please let us know.”
