Avon Lake Boys, Girls Track Teams Win Lorain County Invitational

Record after record fall at Midview meet

Friday night under the lights at Midview High school for Avon Lake's track teams proved to be a great success as not only did both squads shineΒ sweeping both the boys and girlsΒ titles,Β but in doing so they showed who owns Lorain County setting record after record.

In a meet billed the Lorain County Invitational, the girls tallied 128 points to Amherst's 102, while the boys squad garnered 137 to Lorain's 102.

"I like this meet, you get to run against teams, some you never heard of and you get to see how you stand," distance runner Katie Link said. "The girls are looking real good, and we are becoming more confident each week. I feel really good about how I did tonight."

Link, was just one ofΒ the many Shoregals who not only won, but did so in record setting fashion. She broke her own meet record in the 1,600 meter run destroying the field with her 5:17.08, and was also part of the record setting 4x800 relay team (Link, Halle Herzog, Mackenzie Callander, and Taylor Neidrich) as they posted a 10:12.30. Link ran a 2:28 split.

Link was not alone though as the girls just dominated the field, again showing its depth as a team.
