Avon Lake Burglary May Be Connected To Drugs

A woman claims her incarcerated son may have directed someone to break into her garage and looks for narcotics.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police are investigating a suspicious burglary from two weeks ago. The victim believes someone may have been looking for drugs in her garage. Read more about that incident and others below.

Fraud, Dec. 28 — Some legal documents were improperly notarized. The suspect in the case has been charged with certifying an affidavit without administering an oath, according to police records. This case is still being investigated.

Burglary, Jan. 10 — Someone attempted to break into a Captain's Galley resident's garage. The suspect was unable to get into the garage because a large shelf broke off and fell when the door was pushed open. The victim said she believes the incident may be related to her son getting incarcerated. She thinks her son told someone to break into the garage and look for drugs. She does not know who the suspect might be.

Warrant Service, Jan. 11 — Police stopped a car on Electric Boulevard. The driver had an active warrant with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and was arrested. He was then transferred to sheriff custody.

Disturbance, Jan. 11 — A woman caused a disturbance in the lobby of the Avon Lake Post Office. Police were called to the scene. The woman fled before officers arrived, so warrants have been issued for her arrest. The charges against the woman are criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Fraud, Jan. 11 — Someone attempted to cash a bad check at the Huntington Bank at Giant Eagle, prompting bank officials to call police. The suspect took off before officers could arrive.

Traffic Complaint, Jan. 13 — Police ran a random registration check on a vehicle passing down Lake Road. The owner had a suspended license, so police stopped the car. Officers cited the driver for driving with a suspended license.

Death Investigation, Jan. 14 — A 70-year-old woman was found dead in her Inwood Boulevard home. There was nothing suspicious about the death, police said.
