Avon Lake City Council Needs Ward 3 Replacement
With Gary Izo resigning his position, Avon Lake City Council has a vacancy.
AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake is seeking applications for a vacant City Council position.
Current Ward 3 Councilperson Gary Izo tendered his resignation, which goes into effect Friday. Izo said he was diagnosed with a debilitating medical condition and his treatments have made it difficult to continue in his public role, the Morning Journal reported.
With Izo's seat soon to be vacant, Avon Lake City Council is seeking a replacement councilperson. The replacement councilperson will fulfill Izo's four-year term, which will end Dec. 31, 2021.

The position is only open to Ward 3 residents. A map of the city's wards has been shared online.
Applicants must live in Ward 3, remain in the ward throughout the term, be a registered voter and fulfill age and residency requirements as dictated by state law. The applicant cannot hold any other public office or employment within Avon Lake and cannot be interested in profits from work paid for by the city.

Letters of interest and resumes for the open position are due by Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. Applications should be sent to Valerie Rosmarin, Clerk of Council at 150 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, or via email at vrosmarin@avonlake.org.
