Avon Lake Football's Miraculous Playoff Run Ends in Heartbreak
The team committed five turnovers on its way to a 14-6 loss to Anthony Wayne.

AVON LAKE, OH - After knocking off undefeated rival Avon in the opening round of the OHSAA playoffs, the Avon Lake Shoremen couldn't keep their momentum going, losing 14-6 to Anthony Wayne. Both teams had 7-3 records in the regular season.
The Shoremen committed five turnovers throughout the tightly played game. The turnovers ended up killing the team and preventing any type of drive from developing. Sans the final drive of the game, which ended with an incomplete pass on fourth down, there was little offense to speak of for the Shoremen.
The two teams played at Strobel Field at Cedar Point Stadium, Orlando Pace Drive, Sandusky. Anthony Wayne will now move on to the regional championship game against Olmsted Falls.
