Avon Lake High School Marching Band Earns Second Straight Superior Rating
The band performed at their second contest of the season last Saturday at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

AVON LAKE, OH - The high school's marching band is having a heck of a season. The band performed at their second contest of the season last Saturday at Ohio Stadium in Columbus and once again came away with a superior rating. This was the fourth time the band has performed at OSU’s prestigious Buckeye Invitational since 2009 and the first time they have gotten a superior rating at this event.
The band will be performing at their third OMEA contest of the season at Brunswick HS on Saturday, October 22nd at 7 PM and will perform at the OMEA State Marching Band Finals on November 5th.
The Avon Lake Marching Band made history with a performance that earned the band straight superior ratings at the first marching band contest of the fall season. The band placed first in Class A and second out of the 15 bands performing at the event. The contest was held at Maumee High School on Oct. 1. The superior rating qualifies the band for the Ohio Music Education Association State Marching Band Finals.

This marks the seventh year the band has qualified for state finals and the first time it has earned straight superior ratings from all of the judges. In 2009, the band qualified for state finals at the first show of the season at Swanton High School.
The band's show this year is called “American Sketches” and features traditional American music. The school describes the performance as a powerful high-energy show that is colorful and patriotic.

The band is led by Drum Major, Ryan Jaeckin, and Field Commanders, Nathan Plow and Evan Thomas. The band is directed by David Eddleman along with assistant director Christopher Ewald.
