Avon Lake Man Hits Cop Car Twice, Flees Scene

The man tried to avoid the patrol car that he twice hit with his vehicle. He did not escape.

AVON LAKE, OH — An Avon Lake man got himself arrested after he hit a cop car not once, but twice. The man also tried to flee from officers, refusing to stop after the accident.

Juvenile Complaint, Aug. 21 — A resident's 15-year-old daughter sneaked out of the house without her mom's permission. The mom requested police help locate the girl. At about 1:45 a.m. the girl returned home and the mother contacted police to call off the search. The juvenile has been charged with unruly juvenile and violating curfew.

Identity Theft, Aug. 22 — An Avon Lake resident was the victim of an identity theft last week. The man was contacted by Life Lock in reference to possible fraudulent activity. Someone had attempted to open multiple credit cards in the man's name. Police have been unable to identify a suspect.

Theft, Aug. 19 — Someone stole a package from an Avon Lake woman's house. The package contained household items she ordered through Amazon. The package was delivered to her home via UPS.

Death Investigation, Aug. 23 — Police and Avon Lake Fire were sent to Independence Village for a possible death. When officers arrived they found an elderly woman had passed away. Next of kin were notified.

Drug Overdose, Aug. 23 — Paramedics were called to a Brookfield Road home for reports of an overdosing man. The man was located and paramedics were able to revive him. He was rushed to a local hospital.

Traffic Complaint, Aug. 24 — Police stopped a car that dealer license plates. The vehicle was being used for commercial activities, which violates the use of dealer placards. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Failure to Comply, Aug. Aug. 24 — An officer on patrol was sitting at Lear and Lake roads, waiting to make a left turn when a blue Ford swerved into his vehicle, hitting it. The blue Ford then sped off. The officer flipped on his overhead lights and pursued the vehicle. The blue Ford spun out and hit the police car again. The driver was arrested.
