Avon Lake Marching Band Earn Superior Rating At State Competition
A Superior rating is the highest rating a band can earn at states. This is the second year the Shoremen band has earned a Superior rating.

AVON LAKE, OH — The Avon Lake Marching Band earned a top rating at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Finals for the second year in a row. The competition, held at Brunswick High School, saw the 120-member band snag a Superior rating.
The Avon Lake Marching Band has earned Superior ratings at every OMEA marching band contest in 2017.
“The students in the marching band this year are really amazing,” said David Eddleman, director in a statement. “They take pride in the way they look and sound on the field and as a result, have had great success at OMEA contests, sweeping the season with four superior ratings. The greatest affirmation of their abilities came at the State Marching Band Finals at Brunswick High School at the end of the season where they earned the top rating from the judges. Having scored a superior rating at state for the first time last year, coming back and doing it again this year was especially gratifying for the band members.”
