Avon Lake Moving Forward With Halloween Trick-or-Treating

Lorain County may now be "red" but trick-or-treating will still happen Oct. 31.

AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake will move forward with trick-or-treating on Halloween, despite Lorain County's "red" status for COVID-19.

Mayor Greg Zilka said he spoke with Lorain County Health Commissioner David Covell about the event, and what a red rating would mean for trick-or-treating.

"He commented to the mayors and managers at the Zoom call that the event is safe if people are mindful of wearing masks, hand washing and social distancing. Mr. Covell stated that it is fairly safe and infinitely better than a Halloween House party," Zilka said.
