Avon Lake Pancake Breakfast Makes Money For Scholarships
The Avon Lake Kiwanis' semi-annual pancake breakfast drew nearly 550 people this year.
AVON LAKE, OH — On a chilly Sunday morning, more than 550 people gathered at Avon Lake High School for the semi-annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast. Proceeds from the event support scholarships for local students.
The pancake breakfast was done in conjunction with the the Avon Lake High Homecoming Parade. The parade marched through the city on October 5 and embedded in the procession was a contingent from the Avon Lake Kiwanis, promoting the upcoming pancake breakfast.
The event ran from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests included Avon Lake Assistant Fire Chief John Rogers and Police Chief Duane Streator, along with members of Kiwanis and Key Club.

"Everyone had a good time!" said Kiwanis member Dorothy Henderson.
Over the past six years, more than $98,000 has been awarded to Avon Lake's college-bound seniors through the Avon Lake Kiwanis Scholarship Program.

Tickets for the pancake breakfast were $6 in advance and $7 at the door.
