Avon Lake Play Space Restoration Project Gets Donation
The Avon Lake Bicentennial Celebration Committee is donating its remaining sponsorship funds to the initiative.

AVON LAKE, OH — With the Avon Lake Bicentennial celebration coming to a close, the organizers are shifting gears from celebrating the past to paving the future of the community. The Bicentennial's remaining sponsorship money will be donated to a group working to restore the Avon Lake Play Space at Bleser Park.
Specific improvements to be made to the park have not yet been determined, according to Brian Sabin, one of the residents behind the initiative. He said organizers need to evaluate the condition of the park and hear what residents want to see done.
To that end, an open meeting was held Thursday afternoon at Avon Lake Public Library to gather public input on the project. An online survey will be posted allowing residents to share their thoughts on how to improve the park. The survey should remain open for approximately one month.

Sabin said the project is in the pre-design phase. "Meaning we are trying to get an accurate picture of what people in the city want," he said. "It's kind of like cooking a meal: It could take you five minutes, or two hours, depending on what you're making."
He was able to say that much of the donation from the Bicentennial Committee would be set aside for ADA accessible/adaptive equipment at the renewed play space.
