Avon Lake Police Investigating Suspected Opioid Overdose
Police are investigating a possible opioid overdose in Avon Lake.
AVON LAKE, OH — An Avon Lake man suffered a suspected opioid overdose last week, according to police reports.
On Oct. 8, callers reported a possible drug overdose at an apartment complex. When police arrived, a 29-year-old said he had taken an opioid and was having a reaction.
Avon Lake firefighters and EMS took the man to the hospital for treatment, police reports show.

Neighboring Cuyahoga County has seen a spike in overdose deaths. Over the past week, at least 19 people have died from suspected drug use.
"It is regrettable to see a spike in drug overdose deaths with everything else that is going on," Dr. Thomas Gilson said. "Naloxone kits and fentanyl test strips can help prevent overdoses, though our hope is for our addicted neighbors to find their way into recovery."
