Avon Lake School Puts New Spin on Senior Prom
Troy Intermediate Middle School held its annual senior (citizen) prom on Friday.

In a twist on the traditional senior prom experience, sixth graders at Troy Intermediate School held their annual Senior Prom on Friday, The Morning Journal reported.
The event invites grandparents of students and senior citizens in the community to the school for a night meant to recreate the nostalgia of a high school prom.
The event has grown in popularity since its inception, and has run for well over 20 years, as reported by The Morning Journal. The evening included dancing, games, prom photos, and snacks among other things.

Each year the dance has a different theme, with this year’s being “Fly Me to the Moon.” Planning and execution of the night is a combination of faculty and parent volunteers.
The purpose of the dance is to bring the kids and senior citizens together in a fun atmosphere. The school also does not have a formal dance for sixth graders, so the prom helps meet that need, The Morning Journal reported.
