Avon Lake Schools Release Quality Profile
The district said in a statement that the quality profile reflect the district's performance better than the state report card.

AVON LAKE, OH - The school district has released its annual Quality Profile, an alternative metric for gauging a school's success. The report touts Avon Lake High School's high placement in both US News & World Report and Newsweek rankings.
The district would prefer parents use the Quality Profile to judge the district's success, versus the recently issued and controversial Ohio Department of Education Report Cards. Avon Lake received an 'F' in the category of 'Progress' and two 'Ds' in Gap Closing and K-3 Literacy.
The district's Curriculum Director Natalie Fior said in a statement that, "Our K-3 Literacy grade would suggest that our students are struggling to read when in reality 100 percent of our third grade students met the requirements of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee to move onto fourth grade."

Fior also said that, "Our 2015 Valued Added Grade was an A, our 2016 Value Added Grade is an F. Our teachers, students, and curriculum are the same; it is the tests and passing standards that have changed..."
