AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake Schools will pay out over 30,000 after settling a lawsuit with two color guard members injured in a 2013 football game.
The school district awarded Avon Lake City Councilman Larry Meiners $11,250 and Jacob Lundy, father of county Commissioner Matt Lundy, $21,000, reported the Chronicle Telegram. "It was an accident,” Superintendent Bob Scott told the Chronicle Telegram. “The school system felt terrible about what happened.”
Smith filed the lawsuit on behalf of his clients last year, reported the Chronicle Telegram. His clients were working out a deal with the school district, but decided to file before the statute of limitations expired.
