The school was selected by the OAESA to be awarded as an exemplary elementary school.

Redwood Elementary School has been selected by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA) as a 2016 Hall of Fame school.

The school’s principal and staff will be presented with an award, as well as $1,000 to be used at the principal’s discretion according to a post on the Avon Lake City Schools Facebook page. Redwood will also be recognized at an awards luncheon to be held at the Hilton Columbus at Easton on June 17.

The Hall of Fame Award recognizes schools that engage students, faculty and the community as a whole to provide a quality school experience. Redwood was selected among six other schools that will also be recognized at the luncheon.

In order to qualify, school staff submitted an extensive application showcasing the effectiveness of several areas of their educational program. Applications were then read and scored by an OAESA committee and on-site evaluations were also conducted.

“Redwood School was described as a destination reached through multiple pathways,” the committee said in the post, “The school community has a pride-filled student body, a committed staff, involved parents and a tireless principal invested in meeting the social as well as the academic needs of students.”
