Avon Police Launch Home Camera Program
Residents can choose to share their home surveillance footage with police to aid investigations.
AVON, OH — The Avon police department has launched a new crime-fighting tactic: the residential camera registration program. Through the initiative, residents can share home surveillance footage with investigators. The program is completely voluntary.
Access to home videos is controlled by residents, police said. Residents can choose to opt in or out of the program at any time.
In a statement issued by the department, police said, "the goal of the program is to promote public safety...deter criminal activity, assist in police investigations and ultimately protect our community."
