Avon Schools Closed Tuesday, Jan. 2
The freezing cold and snow will see the Avon City Schools closed to start the new year.

AVON, OH — The Avon City Schools are closed Tuesday, Jan. 2 due to weather. Lorain County is under a wind chill advisory until Wednesday at noon.
Students were set to return to school on Tuesday, after the holiday break. Vacation will now be extended by one day.
Nearby, Lorain County Academy and the Elyria City Schools have also closed for Tuesday.

Wind chills could push temperatures into negative territory, with temperatures feeling like -15 to -24 with the wind. Frost bite could set it on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less in this weather.
"Wind chill temperatures will improve slightly during the afternoon but will quickly drop back during the evening," the National Weather Service said in a wind chill advisory.
