Avon Schools Named to 7th Annual AP District Honor Roll
The district is one of 433 districts across the US and Canada to earn the honor.

AVON, OH - The Avon Local Schools have earned a rare and prestigious honor. The district was named to the 7th Annual AP District Honor Roll, one of 433 school districts in the US and Canada to earn that distinction. To earn that designation, the district has increased the number of students taking AP classes, or maintain the percentage of students earning a 3 or higher.
“Over the last five years the school board has allowed me to provide growth in our Advanced Placement offerings,” said Kristina Dobos Buller, Avon High School principal, in an emailed statement. “We have added seven AP courses in five years with the projection of adding three more courses in the next two years for an approximate total of 19 College Board courses in 2020. These dynamic courses are tough and exceptional students dedicate themselves to rigorous guidelines. I am proud of our faculty who challenge these learners and the outcomes they achieve.”
According to the AP, more than 4,000 colleges and universities around the world received AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, or both, and/or consideration in the admission process. To be included on this years's AP District Honor Roll the following criteria were used. Districts need to:

- Increase participation/access to AP by at least 4% in large districts, at least 6 % in medium districts, and at least 11% in small districts;
- Increase or maintain the percentage of exams taken by black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian/Alaska Native students; and
- Improve or maintain performance levels when comparing the 2016 percentage of students scoring a 3 or higher to the 2014 percentage, unless the district has already attained a performance level at which more than 70% of its AP students earn a 3 or higher.
