Avon Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony Coming In September
This is the culmination of a two-year project designed to honor the city's servicemen and women.

AVON, OH — Avon's new Veterans Memorial will be dedicated on September 14. This is the culmination of a nearly two-year project meant to honor the city's servicemen and women.
The dedication ceremony will start at 10 a.m. The memorial is located in the park behind the fire departtment, 36185 Detroit Road, and next to the Aquatic Facility.
"We are very proud of this memorial and hope it serves as a place of quiet reflection to honor those that sacrificed so much for the freedom we enjoy today," the city said in a statement.

The dedication is free to attend and open to the public.
The memorial was still being built in July, when granite stones were added to the structure. Kotecki Monuments used a crane to set 10 stones, each weighing one ton, into their proper place. Spectators were invited to watch the construction process, with the city erecting steel bleachers for the event.
