Avon Will Hold 9/11 Remembrance On Tuesday

City leaders, members of the police and fire departments, and local faith leaders will take part in the ceremony.

AVON, OH — At 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Avon officials and emergency service departments will hold a memorial ceremony for the people killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The public ceremony will include Mayor Bryan Jensen, a performance from an Avon High choir, and local faith leaders.

The ceremony will start at 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and will be held in front of the police department, 36145 Detroit Road. The ceremony will take approximately 35 minutes, according to city officials.

Jensen will deliver the event's keynote address before the ceremonial ringing of the last alarm. There will then be a performance of "Amazing Grace."

Seventeen years ago, 2,974 people were killed in terrorist attacks on September 11. Three hundred and forty-three firefighters were killed on Sept. 11. Seventy-one police officers were killed when the World Trade Centers collapsed, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
