AVON LAKE, OH — A pair of frauds cost a resident and local business thousands of dollars in recent weeks.

On August 13, Canterbury Road residents went to the Avon Lake Police Department to report a massive, unauthorized withdrawal of $9,500 from their checking account. The residents reported the withdrawal to Citizens Bank after they saw their account was overdrawn on August 12.
Initially, investigators thought the withdrawal was connected to a compromised debit card, but it is now believed the checking account itself has been compromised. Citizens Bank will try to provide information on the suspects to police.
